This is a ‘Threefold Approach’: Water, Food and Income Security; taking water access as the entry point. This program aims at increasing access to clean and safe water, irrigation, improving sanitation/ hygiene, access to enough food and increasing household income.
KIPERUDI is involved in promoting general sanitation and health of the people of Bunyoro region. This is through various developments which include among others; construction of shower rooms and water toilets at St Margaret girls secondary school Muhorro, borehole at St Maria primary school, various boreholes and water production wells in Muhorro and Kicumazi communities of Kagadi and Kibaale districts respectively among others.
Medical laboratory services. This was started by one of the beneficiary students of KIPERUDI with support from AAPM, “fame nel Mondo” (Lugano-Switzerland). The lab is well equipped with a Heamatology analyzer, microscopes among others. The major aim is to extend affordable and quality laboratory services to the community for better health standards of living.
Irrigation scheme. KIPERUDI with the support from FAO secured an irrigation scheme located in Rwemisanga Catholic Parish, Kyangwali, Kikuube district. The local community of Kyangwali are now able to grow crops, vegetables and fruits at any time which has increased their household incomes.
KIPERUDI has also involved itself in various community awareness and sensitization programs including but not limited to hygiene, Primary health care, nutrition among others. This has continuously enhanced awareness in the communities of KIPERUDI operations about proper hygiene and sanitation which has prevented the spread of contagious diseases like Cholera, Diarrhea, etc.
