KIPERUDI
Background
Kibaale People’s Rural Development Initiative (KIPERUDI) is an indigenous NGO registered under the laws of Uganda REG No: 6117 (INDR157504868NB). It is located in Mugarama sub-county of Kibaale District in Mid-western Uganda. It started way back in 2008 as a community based organization and later upgraded to an NGO status in 2022. It was started by the concerned local citizens of Kibaale district to equip the communities with knowledge/skills to achieve what they aspire for, have a healthy life, and participate in environmental protection, water and sanitation programs.
KIPERUDI has since expanded its works to the whole of western region of Uganda. Our major areas of operation are; Agriculture, education, Health, Water, Sanitation and Livelihood program. Youth, women and children are our target groups.
Our work
Education
By the funding from various donors, KIPERUDI has constructed various schools, infrastructures to uplift the education standards in Bunyoro region. These includes among others St Andrea Kaahwa college lab building in Hoima district, St Paul primary school in Kibaale district, Busesa, St Dominic secondary school in Masindi among others.
Water, Sanitation and Livelihood Programs
This is a ‘Threefold Approach’: Water, Food and Income Security; taking water access as the entry point. This program aims at increasing access to clean and safe water, irrigation and improving sanitation/ hygiene, access to enough food, and increasing household income.
Agriculture
KIPERUDI has supported the formation of various farmer groups which includes among others KIPERUDI Cooperative farm in cattle rearing, KIPERUDI cooperative farm in crop production, Village farmers and business Association (VIFABUA), Rwemisanga bee keeping group, among others. The skills attained by the youth help them to support their families in attaining affordable income statuses.
Small scale Humanitarian Entreprepreneurship Business
KIPERUDI has attracted a pool of talented Youth, women and supported them in exploring their talents to the rest of the community so as to increasingly share the skills and empower the vulnerable communities in alleviating poverty
Transport and storage facilities.
KIPERUDI with the support from AAPM, “fame nel Mondo” (Lugano-Switzerland), has constructed a fully-fledged warehouse/ store for farmers produce in Mugarama sub county of Kibaale district. The warehouse serves as a collection and storage point for community farmers produce.
